BAT MITZVAH PLANNING TIPS, THEMES & PARTY PLANNING IDEAS

Bat Mitzvahs are one of the most joyous occasions in a Jewish girl's lifetime. This is the time when she becomes a woman and she's treated like a Queen on her special day. Most kids prefer to have a theme party rather than a traditional reception. Entertainers, decorations, flowers, artists, theme decor and a great DJ or band all contribute to a very festive occasion!

Here are a few tips to follow when selecting a theme or entertainment for the Bat Mitzvah party.

1. If your daughter has some favorite hobbies or activities, make a list. Ask her if she has any favorite colors, styles, ideas, themes, or topics that could be the basis for forming a creative theme party event.

2. After you establish what kind of party you want to have contact a party planner to help you coordinate all of the details. Many coordinators have lists of different kinds of themes and should be able to give you a lot of free information. Always remember that it takes time to decorate the venue with theme decor. Make sure the room is available in advance or be prepared to pay an additional labor fee if the party planner has to rush to set up.

3. Some of the most popular themes for Bat Mitzvahs include shopping, ballet, butterflies, rainbows, astrology, suns-moons-stars, Hollywood, famous actors and actresses, famous couples, MTV, ballet, dance, music, painting, art, fairies, magic, Las Vegas, Paris, Italy, Israel, Austin Powers, etc.

4. In addition to the theme decor you will need to set aside time to shop for dresses for the girls and formalwear for the guys. Don't forget to arrange for a limousine if you need special transportation for the event. Select invitations that reflect the style and theme of the event.

5. Entertainers play an important role in every party and Bat Mitzvah. Always select a band or DJ who can act as the emcee and keep the party energetic. Girls love to dance and the boys can be coaxed into it if you hire some good party dancers to interact on the dance floor with the kids. Adults and kids both should be able to dance to favorites like swing, disco, top 40 and all time group favorites like the YMCA, conga, limbo, freeze dance, huggie bear, etc.

6. Jewish tradition is just as important as entertainment. Select a bandleader or DJ who can assist you with a creative grand entrance, the hora (at least a 10 to 15 minute one), some traditional Jewish folk dancing, the candlelighting ceremony and any other special dances or presentations. Don't forget about the Motzi!

7. Artists, magicians, mimes, and other party entertainers are perfect for Bat Mitzvahs. Kids like to stay busy and most of the performers create things like airbrushed t-shirts, caricatures, computer portraits, glass animals, candy sculptures, rice art, or other party favors.

Get creative, have fun planning your Bat Mitzvah and enjoy the party of a lifetime. Don't spare any expense because the drama and emotion you create on this special day will live in your memory for a lifetime. Watching your daughter laugh and have fun with all of her friends as she dances the night away will touch that soft spot in your heart. Cherish the moment for it only lasts for a short time.
